January is mental health awareness month, as well as sharing exercise and fitness opportunities.

Below is what VOA-WN has to offer in terms of health & wellness:

 

Monday - Friday (VOA-WN Office in Lewellen)

8 AM- 6 PM

Center for Health Promotion features free weights, exercise bikes, ellipticals, treadmills, as well as access to fitness videos.

“Younger You” with Stacey

Circuit training for any level of fitness (focuses on toning & cardio work).

National Diabetes Prevention Program (NDPP) session beginning in January! Class will be held in Lewellen on Mondays, time TBA. This program helps you to create a healthy lifestyle change through education, group support, and meetings.

Garden County Health Services has a small exercise room for patients receiving physical therapy, contact the hospital for more information (308) 772-3283.

Garden County Schools welcomes walkers anytime on their resurfaced track and also has a  gym/weight room for public use, contact the high school for additional information (308) 772-3242.

A recent Garden County School Board planning retreat revealed a need for increasing opportunities to be available in the county and will investigate possible options for patrons who are interested in becoming more fit!

The Coordinated Health Council commends citizens for making a commitment to become healthier and seeking wellness opportunities! Healthier people are happier and live longer!!! Health and wellness are vital components in increasing community productivity. Our hope is that 2014 be a banner year for good health in Garden County!
