This time of year, it seems that most students and staff are counting the days to the end of another school year! Therefore, the quote above seems fitting in encouraging us all to make the most of the allotted time left.
An article I recently read,
written by a Royale Scuderi, “10 Life
Lessons People Should Learn Before They Turn 30” reminded me of the importance
of how we all spend our time is. His advice is simple, yet profound! GCHS
Seniors: take special note of the following list! These tips are truly life
lessons.
1.
Money will NEVER solve your
real problems. Happiness
is not for sale. If you’re expecting the ‘stuff’ you can buy to ‘make it
better’, you will never be happy.
2.
Pace yourself.
We don’t have to have our entire lives
figured out all at once…slow down, stop and think, mull things over. Setting
goals is critical and working to achieve them is essential. However, rushing
full-speed ahead towards anything is a one-way ticket to burnout and a good way
to miss your life as it passes you by!
3.
You can’t please everyone.
It’s human nature to want to belong, to
be liked, respected, and valued, but not at the expense of your integrity or
happiness. Others cannot give you the validation you seek, that has to come
from inside. Stay true to your values and stand up for what you believe, even
if it isn’t popular.
4.
Your health is your most
valuable asset. Most
of us tend to take our good health for granted, particularly when we are
younger. Good health is an invaluable treasure-always appreciate, nurture, and
protect it.
5.
You don’t always get what
you want. No matter how
carefully we plan and hard we work, sometimes things don’t turn out the way we
want them to…and that’s okay.
6.
It’s not all about you. You are not the epicenter
of the universe. Even though we only have our own eyes to see through, it is
essential to observe what happens around us.
7.
There’s no shame in not
knowing. Nobody has all the
answers or knows everything. Vulnerability actually makes us more human and
relatable.
8.
Love is more than a
feeling; it’s a choice. Relationships take work, we all have to forgive, need to be kind and
supportive to keep real love alive.
9.
Perspective is a beautiful
thing. Losing perspective can
make us sad, upset, or angry. Sometimes just taking a step back and analyzing
the real impact of the situation brings things back into perspective. If it
isn’t a life-threatening event, it is likely not that important.
10. Don’t
take anything for granted. Too often
we don't appreciate what we have until it's gone. Nothing in this life is guaranteed, take time to be grateful.
