NDE: 2006-2007 State Writing Results
December 12, 2006
As of August 23, 2007, Garden County School's Statewide Writing Assessment Results for 2006-2007 were posted on the NDE web site. The information shows the percentage of our students at grades 4, 8, and 11 who met or exceeded the state writing standards in 2006-2007.
The Spring 2007 Statewide Writing Results show that Garden County students continue to perform well. During last year’s school term 80% of our district’s 4th grade students, 100% of the 8th grade students, and approximately 93 % of Garden County High School’s 11th graders met or exceed the State of Nebraska’s writing standards. According to Doug Christensen, Nebraska’s Commissioner of Education, the 2007 writing results “are giving us good news about the ever improving writing skills of Nebraska students.” Proficient writing represents the critical thinking skills and academic foundation our students have in all other content areas. Parents and educators must continue to impress upon our students the importance of writing as an integral part of academic success.
