Eight Grade Speech Contest

Local students from Garden County Junior High recently gained the opportunity to demonstrate their public speaking skills and take pride in personal accomplishments. On May 8, 2008, the students took part in a speech contest sponsored by Modern Woodmen of America, a national provider of fraternal financial services and programs.
Sixteen students competed in the contest and spoke on the topic of An American Landmark. The Winners were A. Jones, first place; H. Benson, second place; and S. Barnhart, third place. They each received a certificate, plaque. and their names will be engraved on the school’s speech contest plaque. The following participants received a certificate and a pin: J. Young, M. Zorn, A. Peters, B. Namuth, F. LaCrete, G. Cook, K. Gaylord, S. LightFritz, B. Davis, J. McColloch, M. Miller, A. Davis, and T.Vineyard
Modern Woodmen has been sponsoring this contest since 1948 and over 100,000 students compete each year. We are very proud of the efforts made by our students.
